What is a fine art photograph?
Fine Art Photography is a genre focused on creative expression, using photography to convey an artist’s vision, emotions or concepts, often intended for display as collectible art.
Do I have to be professional photographer?
No. We welcome all photographers of all experience levels.
Where will the show be?
The Exhibition will be in the Serpa Galleries of The Old Town Hall in Newmarket, Ontario. The Old Town Hall is at 460 Botsford St in the heart of Newmarket, and has an excellent dedicated gallery space, with proper lighting and moveable walls. It’s a beautiful space!
What is a juried art show?
In a juried art show, artists submit works which qualified jurists then select for inclusion in the exhibition. Jurists are generally senior artists with teaching, curatorial or gallery experience. They are usually not local, and so have no ties to local artists. Works are anonymous, so please do not include your name in your submission.
What social media do you have?
What does “under instruction” mean?
For us it comes down to this: Is the artist getting 1-to-1 instruction on the specific piece?
There are many great resources in video and online. Many are pre-recorded, where the artist is watching and picking up new techniques to apply to their own work, and that’s no problem for us. Whether the site is free or paid, as long as the artist is not getting instructional feedback and advice on the piece being developed for submission, then you’re good to go.
What about AI imaging?
Photographs must be camera based. No images generated by AI, or digital art will be accepted. There are AI tools built into most modern graphics and photography software; feel free to use the ones that you consider reflect photographic processes, e.g. cleaning up sections, improving sharpness or softness and so on. Just do not use generative AI to create the base image.
